è H e (& t i f f i n d i e Vol . 6(4) ______________________MONTGOMERY COLLEGE-GERMANTOWN CAMPUS __________ October 2 3 , 1987 SCHOLARSHIP At 3:00pm October 14, 1987 in the lounge of Montgomery College-Germantown, four outstanding MC-G students were honored. These students were awarded a full one year academic scholarship to the Germantown campus for their scholastic achievements in high school. Tammy Mangene from Gaithersburg High, James Boyd from Damascus High. Jody Troop from Poolesville High, and Jiovanna Bellatiore from Seneca Valley graduated last spring and were chosen by their respective high Schools to receive this award. The highest level of reaccreditation an institution can receive from the Commission of Higher Education of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. Full and unconditional reaccreditation was awarded for the maximum period of 10 years. eont on page 5 GERMANTOWN CAMPUS WELCOMES NEW FACULTY MEMBER JOHN HARE by Nasila Banan Montgomery College would like to welcome John Hare, technical writing instructor, to campus. Professor Hare earned his BA in English at George Mason in 1973. Four years later, he received his MA in Early American Literature at The College of William & Mary. Teaching jobs were scare in the late 70' s, so Professor Hare sought employment as a technical writer for computer science and technical courses for the Government Printing Office. In 1985 he was employed by Diversified Data Corporation and 1986 he started teaching composition and technical writing in Northern Virginia Community College. From there he ventured to Montgomery College, Germantown. Professor Hare' s interests include living history, Civil War, and visiting historic sights. Other areas of interest also include camping, reading, and computers." cont. on page 3
