About Special Collections

Welcome to the Special Collections at Montgomery College Libraries!

In early 2014, the MC Libraries began digitizing some of the archival material from our special collections. The purpose of our digital special collections is to support the curriculum, research interests, and mission of the College.

Our first digital collection features photographs from the early years of MC.  These include photographs of the Bliss Electrical School, which became the first site for the Montgomery Junior College, images of the three campuses during different phases of construction, former graduating classes, various ground breaking ceremonies, and early faculty members.

Our second digital collection features MC student newspapers including Excalibur, published on the Takoma Park Campus, The Spur published on the Rockville Campus, and The Globe published on the Germantown Campus. The time period covered includes newspapers from the 1940's through the 1990's.
